Ernesto received a Ph.D. in Economics from University of Notre Dame. His career includes positions as Chief Financial Officer of Petróleos Mexicanos, President of Nacional Financiera, Mexico’s development Bank, and Undersecretary for state owned industry in the Mexican federal goverment.
In 1995, he founded Marcos y Asociados. He has served as Adjunt Governor of the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the Interamerican Development Bank and the Interamerican Investment Corporation. He has served as Chairman or member of the board at various corporations including Sidermex, Condumex, Cemex, Aeroméxico, Celanese, Grupo ICA, Bancomer, Fina Oil and Chemical Company and Repsol.
